ECT Summer Development Programme
As part of our extended ECT offer, we provide a two-week Summer Development Programme for Year 1 ECTs joining any of our Watergrove Trust schools in September. This is a unique programme that is exclusive to Watergrove Trust teachers.
Colleagues have the opportunity to gain insights and internationally recognised qualifications to prepare them for successful classroom leadership in September and beyond. The programme includes:
- Evidence informed strategies for maximising learners’ self-regulation with opportunities for phase – specific practice with trained instructional coaches;
- In-depth pedagogical training on how to effectively input new knowledge, how to assess who “gets” the knowledge and who doesn’t and most importantly how to respond to this information dynamically in the classroom;
- Subject-specific pedagogical support with phase experts from across the Trust.
With the introduction of AI workshops, the programme offers insight in how best to utilise technology to improve both planning efficiency and learner outcomes, giving colleagues a toolkit of strategies to sustain their work-life balance.
Our most recent programme has shown how well our colleagues embrace the programme as a multi-phase network and align so strongly with the Watergrove Trust Charter to Coach, Challenge and Innovate.
Everyone benefits as a result: the learners, our extended community and, last but not least, their good selves, equipped to enjoy great success in their professional lives.
