Watergrove Trust Safeguarding Strategy
Within the Watergrove Trust the health, safety and well-being of every pupil is our top priority.
We expect all staff, governors/trustees and volunteers to share this commitment to safeguarding our pupils. We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. All staff, in every school, are trained in Child Protection, and pupils are made aware of the adults they can talk to if they have any concerns. Staff are trained to look out for signs of physical/emotional harm or neglect and are required to report these to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
We actively support the government’s Prevent agenda to counter radicalisation and extremism.
We know that successful outcomes for children depend on strong partnerships working between parents/carers and the practitioners working with them. Watergrove Trust is committed to working together with our families, services and agencies, in the best interests of children.
The Child Protection / Safeguarding policy can be found in the policies section of each school website. The trust fully adopts the Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance, updated in September each year.

 | Janice Perkins Janice is the Safeguarding Lead for the Board of Trustees. Janice attends the safeguarding forum and keeps the board up to date with statutory safeguarding and child protection guidance, including anything issued locally by your school’s safeguarding partners |
| Local Governing Committee (LGC) | The LGC at each school appoint a link governor for Safeguarding. Separate from the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) – this is to make sure there’s sufficient challenge to your school’s safeguarding arrangements and performance. The LGC should make sure the curriculum covers safeguarding, including online safety |
| Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) | Each school has a nominated child protection lead who is the point of contact for anyone in an organisation who is concerned about a child. The role is also responsible for leading on: – safeguarding policies and procedures – training and development – receiving concerns about a child – reporting, storing and retaining child protection records following the organisation’s policies and procedures. |

| Looked after children (LAC) | Each school has appointed a designated teacher to promote the educational achievement of looked after children |
All our school Safeguarding teams meet every half term at our Forum where we work together to ensure all children within our trust are safe. This is an opportunity for training, collaboration and sharing good practice.
