System Science Host Immersive Science Workshops for Pupils at Sandbrook Primary School

Our fantastic System Science teams have been running a series of immersive science workshops for our primary pupils at Sandbrook Primary School.

Year 3 pupils at Sandbrook explored the fascinating inner workings of plants through a plant dissection workshop. The pupils were given flowers which they cut into different sections and closely examined with a magnifying glass.

They then stuck the plants down on a piece of paper and labelled the different parts of the plant, using the new terminology they had learned.

Over in Year 6, pupils investigated a real lamb’s heart, looking closely at the exterior of the organ and the inside of the heart.

The pupils were given a demonstration on how to open up the heart and then feel inside the heart to explore the different valves. Pupils really enjoyed the opportunity to get hands-on with the demonstration and were not put off by the sight of a real lamb’s heart!

We can’t wait for more fantastic experiments and workshops next year!
