Watergrove Trust Supports Good Future Foundation AI Safeguarding Summit
We are delighted to have supported the Good Future Foundation and the PSHE Association for a vital AI Safeguarding session. True to our mission of ever providing more for the communities we serve, the event brought together dedicated colleagues from over 20 schools across our borough, strengthening our collective network and ensuring we face these new digital landscapes as an authentic, supportive professional community.
The atmosphere throughout the day was charged with powerful discussion and, for many, truly eye-opening realisations. Led by expert facilitators Daniel Emmerson (Good Future Foundation Executive Director) and Jonathan Baggaley (PSHE Association Chief Executive), attendees dived deep into the practical realities of the tools young people are using today, exploring the emerging risks associated with:
- Deepfakes and AI-generated content
- The psychological complexities of chatbot relationships and AI companions
- Image consent, youth violence, and misogynistic online influence
For teachers and pastoral staff, the connection with learners has evolved rapidly over the last decade. As our world becomes increasingly digitised, ensuring we understand the social, emotional, and safeguarding needs of our children is paramount to our core mission of providing more for the communities we serve.
Action Planning for a Safer Future
The afternoon shifted focus toward proactive prevention. School leaders collaborated on scenario-led case studies and were equipped with practical templates, shared language prompts, and curriculum packs designed to embed AI safety seamlessly into existing PSHE lessons.
