Watergrove Trust Wellbeing Summit 2024

Watergrove Trust Wellbeing Summit 2024

Learners and staff from all of our Watergrove Trust schools came together at St. Andrew’s to take part in our annual Wellbeing Summit. This year we welcomed pupils and staff from St. Andrew’s, St. James’, Kentmere, Moorhouse, Sandbrook,  St Mary’s , Stansfield Hall, Matthew Moss and Wardle.

This annual celebration provided great opportunities for learners from across the Trust schools to meet one another, collaborate and participate in a range of activities to support wellbeing, and they truly made the best of this.

The way they worked together and supported their peers was inspirational. They experienced an activity for each of the 5 ways to wellbeing (Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Give and Keep Learning) which included a wonderful session with a local artist (Hugh Templeton) and exploration of our grounds.

The day finished with a session where the learners reflected and then debated ideas about how to cascade their experiences back to their own school. Challenge and innovation in action!

Connect: Learners from all year groups and schools used icebreakers to generate conversations that allowed them to get to know each other.  Team building activities showed mixed groups how to communicate using words and non-verbal cues.

Be Active: The sporting activities promoted friendly competition and saw the pupils working together as a team.  Sport is a brilliant way to unwind and release tension.

Take Notice: Mindfulness and relaxation are significant factors towards positive wellbeing.  The wonderfully talented artist, Hugh Templeton, shared with us his passion for watercolour painting and explained how art helps him to relax.

The art workshop was inspiring and all of our learners created wonderful sunset paintings.

Give:  Learners from Wardle Academy and Matthew Moss High School guided Year 5 and 6 learners to think about how they can demonstrate the ‘Give’ element of the 5 ways of wellbeing.

Keep Learning: Learners from all schools brought all their thoughts together at the end of the day with ideas of what they will take back to their schools including events/programmes they want to see enacted in their different learning environments.
