Watergrove Trust Launches ECT Summer Development Programme

Watergrove Trust Launches ECT Summer Development Programme

This week, we have officially launched our ECT Summer Development Programme, a pioneering project exclusive to Year 1 ECTs joining Watergrove Trust schools. This year marks the first time that the programme has been available to ECTs, a truly exciting time of innovation and training for the Trust.

During the programme, colleagues have the opportunity to gain insights and internationally recognised qualifications to prepare them for successful classroom leadership in September 2024 and beyond. The programme includes:

  • Evidence informed strategies for maximising learners’ self-regulation with opportunities for phase – specific practice with trained instructional coaches;
  • In-depth pedagogical training on how to effectively input new knowledge, how to assess who “gets” the knowledge and who doesn’t and most importantly how to respond to this information dynamically in the classroom;
  • Subject-specific pedagogical support with phase experts from across the Trust.

With the introduction of AI workshops, the programme offers insight in how best to utilise technology to improve both planning efficiency and learner outcomes, giving colleagues a toolkit of strategies to sustain their work-life balance.

We have been joined by accredited Transactional Analyst, Cat Cornthwaite, who has been leading colleagues through Transactional Analysis – TA101 and supplying them with the necessary skills for effective classroom leadership. This unique opportunity forms part of the Trust’s extended ECT offer which allows colleagues to earn an accredited Transactional Analysis qualification as part of their training.

We have been so impressed with how our colleagues have embraced the programme as a multi-phase network and aligned so strongly with the Watergrove Trust Charter to Coach, Challenge and Innovate

Everyone will benefit as a result: the learners, our extended community and, last but not least, their good selves, equipped to enjoy great success in their professional lives.
