North West Maths Hub Event

Delegates from the Watergrove Trust attended the North West Maths Hub event hosted at our Central Office. The North West Maths Hub aims to help schools lead improvement in mathematics education in England and is part of a wider national initiative, The Maths Hub. 

The event was led by Mike Ollerton, a Mathematics Education Consultant and leading voice in the field of mathematics. Thank you Mike for giving such an insightful and inspirational talk to our delegates.

My time spent at the conference was enlightening in the way students can be scaffolding in understanding concepts such as fractions and area. It has made me appreciate and understand how easy mathematical concepts can be learnt without remembering and using a formula.

The session with Mike was really useful and interesting, specifically the way that Mike brought in access and inclusivity to every task; how to adapt questioning for every activity for teaching mixed attainment classes.

Thank you for organising the event yesterday. I had such a great time, Mike is incredible! I loved being able to put myself into the position of a student and remind myself of the kinds of conversations and questions I want to be getting out of students and a reminder that THEY should be the ones working hard, not me.
