Providing More this Winter
The end of any year leads us to glance backwards, to take stock of how far we have travelled and despite the continuing uncertainty of the times it is still important that we do this.
This year we welcomed Moorhouse Academy into the Watergrove Trust and what a great addition to our community they have proved themselves to be, National Leader of Education Michael Tonge noting after a visit to the school that
“I did not speak to any leader or teacher who was not fully committed to the school or who lacked the ability to be a part of the journey of improvement. There is quality at all levels.“
Well-earned praise for a marvellous team.
Their partner school, the Ofsted Outstanding Kentmere Academy, have enjoyed further success this year with the award of a World Class Schools Quality Mark. Just when you imagine that the Kentmere team might have reached a ceiling with regard to the quality of their work, they receive yet another accolade honouring their ceaseless drive for improvement. Respect to them and Headteacher Nicola Howard for maintaining this wonderful momentum.
Colleagues at St. James are to be applauded for their impressive evolution under the expert eye of Executive Headteacher Judith Rainford. NLE Michael Tonge was, again, full of praise for the school, judging it to be
“in a good place, with a great platform to spring into the new year providing a good quality of education.“
Considering this alongside the Trust’s significant investment in the fabric of the school, it is clear to see the great renaissance underway at St James’ and again the unfailing dedication and hard work of the staff team is impressive and very much appreciated.
St Andrew’s continues to lead the Diocesan schools of the Watergrove Trust by example and it’s innovative work includes the installation of a new outdoor classroom and success in the use of Century Tech, the AI-driven learning platform, with their performance ranked as amongst the top 5 schools nationally.
A very high bar has been set, then, by the Trust primaries for their secondary colleagues, however the challenge has been accepted.
Matthew Moss High School learners Elizabeth and Nathan, members of Rochdale Youth Cabinet, are now standing for election to the National Youth Parliament and we wish them every success in their campaigns.
Last but not least, Wardle Academy are not only looking forward to the benefits of their new WaterSHED accommodation, but the Youth band’s reputation continues to flourish, with exciting news to be shared in the New Year.
So, despite everything, another successful year for the Watergrove Trust as we grow and thank you to everyone, families, children and young people, school and central Trust staff, Governors, Trustees and Members, for all their daily investments in the life and future of our wonderful community
