Mayor’s Charity Cricket Match
The Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Aasim Rashid, hosted a charity cricket match featuring guest of honour His Excellency High Commissioner of Pakistan.
When the match was in danger of being cancelled at the original venue due to adverse weather conditions, Matthew Moss High School stepped up on short notice and provided the use of their sports hall to honour this exciting event.
We greeted our guests and enjoyed a fabulous game of cricket. The players included the Consul General of Pakistan Muhammad Tariq Wazir Shaib, Parliamentarian Afzal Khan Shaib and Lord Wajid Khan Shaib.
Donations for the Mayor’s charities were welcomed and included Springhill Hospice, Parkinson’s UK, Jolly Josh, Petrus Rochdale and Shopmobility. Over £1,500 was raised.
