World. Class.
On 1st July 2021, World Class primary and secondary school leaders, staff and students came together from across the UK and internationally for the World Class Status Quality Mark’s Symposium, sponsored by award-winning interactive learning platform Performance Learning. In light of the ongoing social distancing measures, WCSQM’s annual Symposium took place virtually, hosted by EdTech Demonstrator and World Class Sandringham School in St Albans. The Symposium was delivered exclusively to accredited World Class schools.
During the event, Kentmere Academy were announced as a World Class Primary School. This award adds to the many previous awards already won by the school which has continued to go from strength to strength since Ofsted declared it to be “Outstanding in all areas” in January 2018. In July 2018 the school was awarded MEN Primary School of the Year, followed by the Pearson Primary School of the Year Silver award in 2019 and has recently been shortlisted for the Play Space Award. The school’s Executive Headteacher Sarah Isberg said the award was ‘an absolute vindication of all the hard work and determination in proving the school to provide the best possible education for every child. This award shows what can be achieved with sheer hard work and determination. I am incredibly proud to have led the school on its journey from Special Measures to World Class status.’
To achieve this latest award, it was the children themselves who had to provide evidence about why they considered Kentmere to be World Class. The Year 5 and 6 children worked hard to produce a video and powerpoint about the school. Nicola Howard, Head of school at Kentmere said, “We are so proud to be awarded World Class Schools Status. This has been an accreditation that was led by the children, which included creating and recording content, collaborating with World Class Ambassadors and working on an ambitious challenge with schools across the country. It is an amazing achievement and something to celebrate.”
