Former Falinge Park High School student Amber didn't take a traditional route into teaching. From studying Beauty Therapy and managing teams in hospitality to completing her Psychology degree via The Open University during the pandemic, every step helped build the communication, empathy, and leadership skills she uses today.
Now a High School & Sixth Form teacher in Staffordshire, Amber reflects on her journey and the foundation built during her time at Falinge Park — including the encouragement of teachers like Mrs Uddin, who believed in her early on.

Year 4 have had such a busy time recently. They have been writing up their 'Ship's log entry' for English, based on the novel Kensuke's Kingdom. We had on beach soundtracks and LED candles to set the atmosphere and the children produced some incredible writing!
In Computing, we looked at the internet, how it works, permissions and safety. We have enjoyed making our own content on websites like Chromelab and Paintbox.
In Geography we have been revisiting our understanding of key Geographical terms like hemisphere, continent, equator etc and we have also focussed on Catalonia, Spain, looking at the difference in landscapes (pyrenees, Costa Brava and Ebo river) and at the impact of tourism on Catalonia. We sorted facts into 'positive' or 'negative' impact.
In Maths we have been working hard to get to grips with understanding place value and adding 4 digit numbers. Children have used their place value charts and pictorial representations to help their understanding.
